Manila City Dwellers avoids city crime and pollution to enjoy holidays in havens like Clark Freeport

Dec. 17, 2009 - PRLog -- Metro Manila has lost a great deal of its luster of old not only because of its failure to keep up with the times in development but also its reputation as a safe destination for family travel and leisure.

Luckily for the country, there are a few special places that are not plagued by crime and safety concerns.  These are the so-called special economic zones a.k.a. Freeports.   One of the nearest Freeports from Manila is the up-and-coming Clark Freeport.

Clark Freeport was the largest foreign US airbase, complete with its own international airport with daily flights linking it to major cities around Asia.  Inside of Clark Freeport are golf courses, casinos, family-styled resorts that smacks of the US suburban lifestyles and fine-dining restaurants.  

One of the leading players in Clark Freeport for leisure and hospitality is Hong-Kong based Yats International, a developer and operator of upscale properties.  One of its properties is Clearwater Resort & Country Club.  This is a 13ha property with a large 3ha lake, beach, various swim spots, nice picnic grounds and a small number of lodgings.   It welcomes a reasonable number of foreign and local tourists as guests.   Once inside, one gets the feeling of living in a plush suburb in California or Florida.   There are no concerns for safety and crime inside Clearwater Resort.  Noise, conjestion and pollution do not exist here.

On the wine and dine scene, there is the famous fine-dining Yats Restaurant and Wine Bar which maintains two wine cellars housing all kinds of vintage wines spanning over 100 years.  Located inside a Golf and Casino estate, it is frequented by not just tourists but also local excecutives and business travellers.  Prices are very reasonable and the wine list is unbelievable but not pricey.
