XENITH GREEN OF KEMPNER HIGH SCHOOL IN FORT BEND INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT ORGANIZES TREMENDOUS EFFORT TO AID LOCAL FOUNDATION WITH PROVIDING TOILETRIES AND FIRST-AID SUPPLIES TO AT-RISK AND HOMELESS YOUTH

Kempner High School joins Saving Our Children Foundation in citywide outreach effort, providing at-risk youth and homeless teens with Love and Caring Kindness Packages (LACK Packages)

Houston/Harris & Fort Bend County, TX, December 15, 2009 – Xenith Green of Kempner High School organized an overwhelmingly successful donation drive to provide Saving Our Children Foundation (SOCF) with valuable supplies and toiletries, which will create LACK Packages for at-risk and homeless youth throughout the Houston and Fort Bend areas.  Mrs. Green solicited the support of Principal Troy Mooney and the many youth clubs and organizations within the school.

Throughout the week of November 30 – December 11, 2009, a well-organized effort was made at Kempner High School.
It is estimated, well over 700 items, with an approximate value of $2,000 were collected during the drive.  These items will aid well over 50 youth this year who are fighting to stay off the streets and turn their lives around.  Vanessa Posey, Director of SOCF indicated, “Out of all of the donation drive efforts that have been organized for the Foundation, those made by Mrs. Green and Kempner High School students is by far the greatest collection effort made on behalf of SOCF.  This is a tremendous response, especially considering the state of our economy and the holiday season.”

LACK Packages provide at-risk and homeless youth with the basic essentials to ensure they are able to maintain their hygiene and positive attitudes.  Essentially, the collection will give these youth what they LACK to get their days started off well. It is important for the youth to have confidence and high self-esteem.  Having the proper hygiene materials bolsters that confidence.  LACK Packages filled with items such as toothbrushes, soap and hair care products will have a tremendous impact upon the daily lives of the youth in the program.

Saving Our Children Foundation is an organization of passionate believers who serve low-income and at-risk youth throughout the Houston, Harris County and Fort Bend County areas. SOCF promotes positive change and rehabilitative services that will lead youth to stability and self-sufficiency. The Foundation’s focus is providing positive reinforcement in order to produce positive outcomes in youth.

With the help of Mrs. Green, Principal Mooney and Kempner High School Students, SOCF is able to reach out to at-risk and homeless youth in our communities during their time of need.

The LACK Package program is one of the many programs opportunities offered by SOCF.  Our programs and activities can be viewed at www.savingourchildrenfoundation.org.  For more info about the LACK Package program, please call 832.969.5666 or email fscoordinator@savingourchildrenfoundation.org.
