Detox in Sri Lanka this New Year

Their 13 day ‘Buddhism and Beauty’ tour of Sri Lanka combines a tour of the country with a stay at a local Ayurveda centre. To ease the mind after a hectic few weeks the tour begins with a visit to a local Buddhist monk to discover the beliefs of Buddhism and to also take part in meditation. Later on the tour gives you the chance to experience a chanting ceremony and to visit some of Ceylon’s great attractions such as Kandy and Buduruwagala.

The last week of the tour is based at an ayurveda village near the Southern Coastal resort of Beruwela. Ayurveda as the name implies (Ayu: life, Veda: Knowledge) is the “Art of healthy living”. On your arrival at village you receive a welcome foot oil massage followed by a meeting with the Consultant Chief Doctor who examines visitors and provides an individual treatment plan for the stay. The ayurveda treatment area features ponds, water features and landscaped gardens in order to provide an especially soothing environment. There are 12 spacious individual treatment rooms, a doctor’s consultation room and a unique yoga and meditation room in the middle of a large pond. With all food at the resort prepared under the strict supervision of ayurvedic doctors, so that it is healthy and nutritious, the guilt of previous indulgence soon passes.
