Wayland, MA- When you’re a teenager, you can’t wait for that first date. It’s exhilarating and new. You dream of it, and gossip with your friends about what you’ll wear (if you’re a girl). Maybe you clean out your car and buy a new pair of jeans or baseball cap (if you’re a guy). All in all, dating at sixteen is an exciting adventure, full of promise, unfettered by a complicated past.
Project into the future about thirty or forty years, and the word ‘dating’ probably elicits very different emotions and reactions. At mid-life, dating can bring excitement, but often it’s fraught with confusion and anxiety, especially if you haven’t dated for a while or have suffered a broken heart.. But in a triumph of hope over experience, many people start the new year with ‘getting out there again’ as one of their resolutions.
At One Journey Consulting, a coaching and consulting practice in Wayland dedicated to helping individuals through the journey of divorce, dating is also on the mind of Renee Cooper, coach and co-founder of the practice. A veteran of divorce and re-entry into the dating scene, Ms. Cooper knows first-hand the trials -- and joys -- of navigating the social scene again. And like her supportive series on healing from divorce, she’s using her experience to help others during the upcoming Dare to Date…Again one-day workshop
Says Cooper: “We created this program because of what we saw our clients experiencing after coming through a divorce. Almost everyone had the same concerns: How do I know if I’m ready to date? What about this internet dating? Is it safe? What are the new “dating rules”? And probably the one we hear most: How do I avoid repeating the same mistakes from my last relationship?
Dare to Date…Again will be held on Saturday, January 16 in Wayland -- just in time to jumpstart your New Year’s resolution to find that relationship that’s right for you. More information can be found at www.OneJourneyConsulting.com.
