The newest version of FutureThought Technologies' freeware web browser Dolphin3D comes bundled with a powerful new tool that gives users unprecedented visibility and control over their web browsers' cached files. The new Cache Hacker web browser add-on presents a single, easy-to-use window where users can list, preview, monitor, and manage the various types of media files and documents that web page publishers store on their computers as they browse the Web.
The Cache Hacker includes several default one-button presets that enable users to quickly list and filter movie, music, and image files left cached on their computer's hard drive. The tool presents users with a sortable list of cache files side-by-side with a large media preview pane where it docks a native Flash movie player, an embedded Windows Media Player, and a native multi-format picture viewer capable of playing and displaying all common media types stored in a browser's cache. The tool enables users to save individual or batched files for later viewing or examination and to delete files individually or in batches. Potential uses include anything from permanently saving recently viewed Flash movie files to more serious, detailed hex-level examination of file headers and file contents for security or forensic purposes (Cache Hacker includes a hex peek mode that displays quick hex and text previews of any cached file's contents).
Although the Cache Hacker can be used as a standalone application it is configured by default to launch from the Dolphin3D Web Browser's Tools menu. FutureThought Technologies, an Orem Utah-based company, provides the bundled Dolphin3D Web Browser for Windows and Cache Hacker tool (version 1.52) as a single freeware download from http://www.dolphin3d.com/
