Yuvraj Singh Leads India To Victory Over Sri Lanka.
Second Twenty20 International, Mohali
A scintillating blast of 60 not out in 25 balls from Yuvraj Singh handed India a six-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the second and final Twenty20 International in Mohali with five deliveries to spare.
Sri Lanka, boosted by a second consecutive half-century from Kumar Sangakkara (59) and 38 from Chinthaka Jayasinghe, posted 206 for seven only to see their score overhauled in the final over of India's reply, Yuvraj hitting three fours and five sixes after Virender Sehwag had blasted 64 in 36 balls.
Batting first, Sri Lanka lost Tillakaratne Dilshan (1) early but were still able to post a competitive score thanks to the efforts of Sangakkara, Jayasinghe, batting at number four, as well as 31 in 21 balls from Sanath Jayasuriya and an unbeaten 26 in 13 balls from Angelo Mathews.
Yuvraj's left-arm spin accounted for the wickets of Sangakkara, Jayasinghe and Chamara Kapugedera (2) and he completed a fine day, his birthday, no less, by finishing the match off in style.
Gautam Gambhir (21) added 58 with Sehwag for the first wicket and Mahendra Singh Dhoni then made 46 in 28 balls before the dismissal of Sehwag, caught by Kausalya Weeraratne off Nuwan Kulasekara, brought Yuvraj to the crease.
He put on 80 with Dhoni for the third wicket in six overs and although Suresh Raina was run out for nine, Dinesh Karthik helped Yuvraj finish off the match by hitting the only ball he faced for four.
Sri Lanka had won the opening match in Nagpur by 29 runs and the two sides now begin a five-match One-Day International series in Rajkot on 15th December.
