Film - “Queen Victoria’s Wedding” - Is A Provocative Short That Examines The Impact Of Mental Illness On Three Generations of Women Will Screen January 2010

LOS ANGELES, CALIF – Queen Victoria’s Wedding, starring Natalie Desselle Reid (“B.A.P.S.,” “Eve”), is a Short Film that will debut in Southern California on the campus of El Camino College.  Hosted by the El Camino College Film Club, the screening – on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 – will show in the Marsee Auditorium.  

Queen Victoria’s Wedding is the latest project from director and executive producer BJ Rouse of Rouse House Entertainment, in partnership with Mighty Moore Entertainment.  Sponsors of the film include educational foundation Lets Erase The Stigma (“Lets,” www.letserasethestigma.org) and national corporate entities.  “We’re fortunate that Lets and our other sponsors have stepped up to support this project,” says Ms. Rouse, “With an increase in those being diagnosed with some form of Mental Illness, it is practically imperative that more stories be told.”  

“Lets is excited to help produce this Short Film,” said Phil Fontilea, executive director and founder of Lets.  “Our goal is to erase the stigma of Mental Illness and with films like Wedding, we begin to rip back the veil and educate others on the importance of treatment.”  Mighty Moore Entertainment president, Shenita Moore, fully agrees, “The first time I read the script, I remember telling BJ that I was ‘ready to do whatever it took to help get this film made’. It's not just an important message for the African American community, but every community.”

Queen Victoria’s Wedding takes a searing look at the agonizing world of a mother diagnosed with a mental disorder and her sporadic use of medication.  The interaction between Queen Victoria, her daughter Shakina and her own mother, Mona, makes this film a must see.  An invitation-only VIP Reception will kick off the evening, followed by the screening and an informative Q&A about the making of the film.  Queen Victoria’s Wedding was produced by Rouse House Entertainment, Aminah Abdul-Jabaar, Mighty Moore Entertainment and Lets.  Ms. Reid’s co-stars include Nieko Mann (“Friday Night Lights”), Carmen Twillie (“Six Feet Under”), Tyreese Burnett (“Drumline”), Shenita Moore (“Grey’s Anatomy), Poetri (“House of Payne”), Kendra C. Johnson (“Phat Girlz”), newcomers Todd Moore and Jay Rockaway along with a special appearance by screenwriter, director and producer Antwone Fisher (“Antwone Fisher,” “ATL”).  At release time, confirmed screening sponsors include El Camino College Film Club, Lets, Mighty Moore Entertainment and Rouse House Entertainment.
