With holidays and family get togethers approaching, Drs. Barton Goldsmith and Steven Trudeau of the radio program "Emotional Fitness" asked Drs. LIsa Hayden and Denise Feil of the Greater LA VA to discuss issues related to Aging, Memory Loss and Familial/Caregiver concerns.
Drs. Hayden and Feil discussed the importance of accuarate diagnosis and attemtion to medical issues that may mimic a pathological process, such as Alzheimer's. Some tips were given about dealing with a loved one with dementia over the holidays and how to minimize stress and anxiety in caregivers.
On-going research that supports caregivers via telephone or internet while minimizing burden was discussed.
