Publisher Blazer Books, Inc. has posted an entire new mystery novel on the Internet, and crime fans can read it free, with no strings attached. The book is easily accessed at www.KillerTakeAll.com, and can be read online or downloaded for printing.
Author Bruce J. Bloom sets "Killer Take All" in an area he knows well, the East End of Long Island where he lives. He weaves particulars of the locale into the unfolding murder puzzle, as his reluctant private investigator Ben Seidenberg tracks a wary killer.
Seidenberg is overweight, has angina that kicks in when he's under stress, and keeps his revolver in his bureau drawer under his shorts. He wants nothing more than to spend the days of his early retirement fishing, and the nights enjoying the affections — and sublime dinners — of his earthy lover Alicia Bianchi. But it is not to be, as a trail of violence and corporate intrigue leads him from the waters off Long Island to paneled offices high above Park Avenue in Manhattan.
At the Shelter Island retreat of Ingo Julian, the scarred and disfigured chairman of Julian Communications, Seidenberg finds that each high-powered company executive spins a different story about the drowning of one of their own. Ingo is planning to take his company public, fears that unsettling allegations will complicate the $600 million stock offering, and would rather Seidenberg went away. Lisa Harper, Julian’s arrogant corporate communications chief, insists the drowning was an accident. Even Seidenberg’s friend Hector Alzarez, the company’s corporate counsel, may be shading the truth in order to collect millions from the stock offering. Seidenberg suspects the drowning was murder, and soon learns who did the killing. Now he must answer the critical question: why?
"We're trying to find out if our readers are as taken with Ben Seidenberg as I am," says Bloom. "If he's somebody people want to spend more time with, he'll be back for continuing adventures."
