The Calabasas Dental Institute™; already the most technologically advanced dental practice in the San Fernando Valley – announces their effort of `green-certification' by the US Green Building council as the most “Environmentally Sustainable”
Being environmentally sustainable encompasses a wide spectrum of green practices, including all the dental equipment, dental supplies, patient materials and record keeping. Our green credentials are designed to minimize the impacts of modern dentistry on the patients and the environment.
“Being a faithful steward of the environment means everything to me,” says Calabasas Dental Institute Founder and Chief Dentist Dr. Greg Rubin DDS. “We've done an exhaustive analysis of every possible area of the practice to ensure we make the least impact.”
To start, the owners of the Calabasas Dental Institute bought the most advanced Kodak Digital Imaging system available on the market. This low-dose radiation three dimensional imaging system reduces radiation exposure ten to thirty times less than other 3D systems—ensuring better protection for patients and users.
Reducing the consumption and disposal of paper, dental products and eliminating the need for used dental film are additional ways the Calabasas Dental Institute brings down their carbon footprint.
The office instituted a review of every scrap of paper generated by the office and established a scanning and filing process that digitizes all patient records, insurance documentation creating a paper-free office, where all patient charts are stored electronically and the new patient questionnaires are filled out on a computer.
“I believe all business should fully embrace the environmentally sustainable model we've established at the Calabasas Dental Institute,” said Dr. Rubin. “In order to bring the highest possible quality of care for our patients, it is important to look at every aspect of the work we do at the Calabasas Dental Institute.”
Delivering uncompromising service in a digital, high-tech dental practice which takes environmentally sustainable practices seriously is the hallmark of all future dental offices.
The Calabasas Dental Institute is just a little bit ahead of everyone else in this way.
