Author John C. Nippolt was born and raised in Long Beach, California, but currently lives in a small rural community on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. He works as an art teacher and professional artist, focusing mostly on woodcarving. He has surfed for over 50 years. The inspiration for Surf Fu came from his experiences as a surfer, and his desire to bring attention to the preservation and enjoyment of our oceans.
