Preston Construction Achieves MBE Certification with PA Department of General Services

Preston Construction, L.L.C. (Preston Construction), a Philadelphia, PA based site contractor, was officially certified today as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (PA) Department of General Services.  This is the fourth certification of this type that Preston Construction has achieved in 2009, and marks yet another critical step in the company’s path to success.

Preston Construction’s recent certification with the PA Department of General Services makes this minority-owned company eligible to participate as a MBE with all participating agencies and departments within the Commonwealth.  Eligibility as a MBE within all participating agencies is based upon mandatory reciprocity under the Pennsylvania Unified Certification Program, or PA UCP.  Preston Construction’s certification with the PA Department of General Services will be valid until December 31, 2011, at which point Preston Construction will be eligible for recertification by application to the Department of General Services.

This MBE certification with the PA Department of General Services is an extremely exciting opportunity for Preston Construction.  With this MBE certification, Preston Construction will be eligible to participate as a MBE in municipal, state and federally-aided contracting and construction work.  In these extremely challenging economic times, contracting work in the public sector is a tremendous benefit, and as funds continue to be released as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Preston Construction will be perfectly positioned to capitalize on available contracting work that will be afforded as a result of the company’s MBE certification.
