DESCRIPTION

Global caprolactum production dwindled to a 6-year low of less than 4 million tons in 2008. Production has been growing at a slow pace for the last three years with 2008 posting a negative growth. Over the past 10 years, caprolactum output has risen by a modest 1.7% per annum against 1.1% rate of increase in consumption and similar rate in the in capacity.

Current YnFx projection model predicts that nylon consumption would touch xxx million tons by 2014. As against this, the capacity will reach xxx million tons from the current xxx million tons. Thus, the current over capacity situation would recede over the next few years. The key drivers would be engineering plastics while textiles and industrial filament market would continue to decline. Engineering plastics main market will be its increasing use in automobile sector. Countries like China and almost all European countries have made it mandatory to install airbag in all future car production.
