The National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association (NESTA), established in 1992 and holding the prestigious NCCA accreditation for its Personal Trainer Certification, has announced their newest division, the Mixed Martial Arts Conditioning Association (MMACA).
According to the MMACA website, the association and MMA Conditioning Coach Certification was developed in response to the rapid global growth of mixed martial arts. According to research, mixed martial arts is the fastest growing sport in the world today. In theory, MMA is based on “a mix” of various martial arts such as jiu jitsu, boxing, muay thai and wrestling. However, to date, there hasn’t been a unified and recognized method of conditioning for this global phenomenon.
“We do not teach any fighting tactics or strategies. We educate fighters, coaches, and trainers on the high level science and simple application of conditioning for MMA,” says Dr. John Spencer Ellis, CEO of the MMA Conditioning Association. “Graduates of the MMA Conditioning Coach Certification course will have earned their certification. Nobody gets it handed to them. In addition to the science, training and coaching methods, they will also learn effective business and marketing strategies specific to the fast evolving global MMA industry. It’s important that our members and graduates are financially successful, not just talented conditioning coaches. This will allow for longevity of the sport,” adds Ellis.
The MMA Conditioning Coach Certification course curriculum is delivered in a comprehensive online format using audios, video, PDFs, Powerpoints, discussion boards and a lot of continuing education. The course takes well over 60 hours of study to complete. If you are interested in becoming a Certified MMA Conditioning Coach, visit the official site http://www.mmaca.net.
