What happening?

With an uncharacteristic three losses in four games, the worst stretch since 2002, pundits and analysts have written the Patriots off, closing the book on a dominating decade. Is it premature? We'll see the response Sunday against the Panthers. If the dynasty is over, you'll watch the remnants of it. Or is this just a speed bump? Quarterback Tom Brady questioned his teammates' fight, but will it matter?

Who is the Panthers quarterback? Beleaguered, interception-happy quarterback Jake Delhomme may have been on the verge of getting pulled last week, though an injured finger ended up benching him. In his place, versatile Matt Moore was 14 of 20 for 161 yards with one interception in the win over the Bucs. Coach John Fox wouldn't immediately name a starter, meaning nothing is definite. Who starts Sunday's game may not end it.

Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers was the subject of serious trade rumors this past offseason, as he wanted out of Carolina. One team interested was the Patriots, who are still searching for the answer at end. Peppers may be a free agent this time around, so could the inconsistent, not-always-full-effort player decide to give it his all Sunday as a way of impressing a potential suitor? If so, that's bad news for the Pats tackles such as Matt Light, Sebastian Vollmer, and Nick Kaczur.
