Increased security following recent concerns about safety and security resulting from terrorist attacks are one example of how travel has changed in recent years.
Travelers in the past either relied on government websites or purchased travel profiles to stay informed about the country that they were traveling in.
"I would sometimes go into a country and not know what side of the road to drive on," said William Lee, a business man whose job requires frequent traveling. "Knowing the traffic patterns, entry and exit requirements, and crime situation of a foreign country is necessary. I could never really find a comprehensive document that combines all of these things."
The Travel Profiles at Hospital.com offer travelers information ranging from the number of paved and unpaved airports to the hospital information for every country in the world. Users can download the profile directly onto their phone or personal computer for future reference.
Each profile also utilizes the 2-D barcode, allowing users to scan the barcode with their camera phone and store the profile, even internationally. Doing so allows a traveler to access emergency numbers and other information included in the profile.
"I have never found something covering so many categories important to travelers. It's like a combination of information from all around the internet placed into one simple document."
