They started playing Christmas carols in Tesco on 20th November which took me by surprise, and then I noticed the frozen turkeys - even in Phuket Christmas seems to get earlier and earlier each year.
It certainly won't be a white Christmas. In Phuket the average temperatures in December are 30.6°C so Christmas will be warm and sunny, a good excuse to go to the beach or sit by the pool relaxing with a glass or two of your favorite cocktail - I may even try a Siam Sunray if I can find one!
Most hotels, restaurants and bars offer a traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and festive music but if you want to escape Christmas altogether then it is possible. I normally stay at home and enjoy a Thai meal, such as roast duck and spicy red curry.
December is a good time to visit Phuket, the weather is at its best and people are in high spirits. The white sandy beaches are spotless with the clearest blue, warm waters making them perfect for swimming and water sports. Phuket is the perfect place to escape the cold, wet winter back home.
Where will you be spending your Christmas?
Wherever you may be, We would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.
