The Blankenship Mini-LEEDS21 Carry-On has been awarded a Premier Gear Award for the month of December.
The Premier Gear Award is an honor bestowed upon a piece of gear—whether guitar, amp, effect, or other gear— that has been extraordinary enough to impress the staff of Premier Guitar. Despite the high quality of all gear reviewed by Premier Guitar, only exemplary items earn the award.
“Before even touching the tone knob,” says reviewer Brian Barr. “I was surprised at how perfectly dialed in the tone was... Though the Carry-On recreates the sound of old, there are some very modern traits to the amp that may make it more desirable than using a vintage amp live, or even in studio situations.”
“This is a great honor for me,” says owner Roy Blankenship. “Building a great amp requires finding the right recipe. I am grateful people are enjoying my amps and that I have been bestowed this award—which is a particular achievement given the amount of gear Premier Guitar evaluates.”
“We created the Premier Gear Awards to recognize gear that is truly exceptional in terms of the characteristics that are most important to our readers,” says Premier Guitar’s editor-in-chief Chris Burgess. “Whether it's tone or build quality, craftsmanship, looks, playability, value, versatility, or even that 'certain something' that can be so difficult to define, these awards are our way of saluting the gear that decisively surpasses our exacting standards.”
