Jet City Devices announces they are now repairing cracked LCD screens on the T-Mobile Dash 3G. This is the same product as the HTC Snap provided by Sprint. Customers can mail their phone to Jet City Device's Seattle office where the phone will be fixed and mailed back within 24 hours of receipt.
This problem can manifest in several different ways. There can be black "ink" leaking through, solid white or black spots on the screen, a highly faded picture, or streaks running through the screen. Either way, part or all of the screen is unreadable. This is one of the most common problems encountered by T-Mobile Dash 3G owners.
"We have repaired the original Dash since 2007," said Jet City Devices owner Matt McCormick, "So we're excited to have finally found a supplier for these new Dash 3G phones. We're looking forward to helping people get their phones working like new again."
A quick search of various HTC forums, like htcwiki.com, reveals that the problem of the cracked Dash 3G is fairly common, and, until now, there hasn't been any real solution. A number of these forums suggest that the original Dash LCD screen will work in the new Dash 3G. This is not the case.
According to Mr. McCormick, "We actually purchased a Dash 3G just to investigate this issue and it turns out that while the screens themselves look quite similar, the connectors are completely different and the two screens are not interchangeable."
As of this writing, the cost for the T-Mobile Dash 3G screen repair from Jet City Devices is $85. That price includes parts, labor, and a one-year warranty. The Sprint HTC Snap can be repaired at the same price.
