Hoping to help ease the hardships for hundreds of Simi Valley families who rely on the Care & Share food bank, the local business owners of Garlic Jim’s Famous Gourmet Pizza have decided to help.
That’s because some 1,200 families – about 4,000 people – turn to the Care & Share food bank in Simi Valley each month, according to the nonprofit’s office manager Kittie Fidermutz.
“There’s a definite need right now,” says Ms. Fidermutz. “Professionals who used to donate to us have lost their jobs and now need help themselves.”
Upon hearing the news, the Simi Valley franchisees of Garlic Jim’s Famous Gourmet Pizza (http://www.garlicjims.com), Tom and Peige Curiale, decided to help the nonprofit Care & Share feed the hungry.
“Bring two cans or boxes of non-perishable food items to our store and receive $1 off your gourmet pizza purchase,” says Mr. Curiale. “Plus, you can take advantage of this Care & Share offer with any of our coupons or special discounts.”
The gourmet pizza maker hopes to be able to deliver a large amount of food ASAP.”
“The food-donation discount is also a way for us to say thank you to our valued customers,” says Mr. Curiale.
