Agoura Hills, CA: Dashing dogs, petite pups and handsome hounds living in the Conejo Valley are happily gathering in the play yards of Camp Bow Wow® Agoura Hills at 29348 Roadside Drive. Open just in time for the human holiday season, Conejo Valley’s puppy parents can leave their favorite hounds at the city’s Premier Doggy Day and Overnight Camp while they’re at work, running errands, traveling out of town or just spending a day at the beach, with the confidence that their pups are being well cared for by the well-trained team of Certified Camp Counselors®. At Camp Bow Wow, all campers, pedigreed pups and motley mutts alike, are encouraged to romp and play all day.
Conveniently located near the intersection of Kanan and Agoura Roads, Paul Berkovitz designed this state-of-the-
“As far as I’m concerned, Camp Bow Wow is just what the vet ordered,” commented Berkovitz, top dog and owner of Camp Bow Wow® Agoura Hills. “Dogs, just like humans, are social animals and love being around other dogs and people. As a whole, they’re much happier in a group situation than being cooped up in a house or an apartment all day. Camp Bow Wow’s all-day open play philosophy gives them an opportunity to make decisions for themselves: whether to play or to rest. It’s much healthier for the pups than sitting home alone.”
Interested puppy parents can look in on the escapades in Camp Bow Wow’s play yards by logging on to the Camp’s website to view the real-time footage broadcast by the many Camper Camssm mounted throughout the facility. The Camp will also have a Little Dog/Old Dog Lounge for pups who prefer to take things at a little slower pace. The camp-style lobby will house a retail shop stocked with the latest must-have doggy accessories like leashes and collars and a collection of cute dog toys. Grooming services will also be available on the premises. Camp Bow Wow® Agoura Hills plans to work with the Agoura Hills Shelter and Lifeline4paws to foster homeless pups with the intent on finding them a new family and a new leash on life.
“The safety of every pup entrusted to our care is our first priority,” continued Berkovitz. “That’s one of the reasons our complimentary Interview Day is so important. Every dog is a unique individual with unique needs. Most are ready to join the pack immediately while others are more timid and get stressed in new situations. The interview day not only allows us to observe how each pup reacts to a new environment, but gives each dog the opportunity to get to know the Counselors and other Campers at his/her own pace.”
After a full day of play, day campers head home for the evening tired, happy and ready to relax. Overnight campers retire to one of the Camp’s 48 spacious, private, climate-controlled cabins for dinner and a rest. All cabins, furnished with comfy cots and soft fleece blankets are large enough to accommodate two or three pups from the same family if their guardian would like them to stay together. The pups also enjoy a special Campfire Treat before bedtime. Camp Bow Wow’s fees are all inclusive: overnight rates include all day play.
All campers at Camp Bow Wow are supervised by a staff of Certified Camp Counselors® trained in pet CPR, first aid, dog behavior, group play dynamics, safety and health management, and of course, cleaning procedures. There is at least 1 Counselor for every 15 campers during play times.
To further help ensure the safety and security of all campers, new arrivals are required to participate in a free interview day before they can attend camp on a regular basis. Canine campers must be on flea and tick preventative;

A native of New England, Berkovitz moved to the area in 2002 and met and married Sonia in 2003; Berkovitz has been involved in his family’s business, Philip B a manufacturer of botanical hair care products. He’d just finished a three-year term on the Board of Directors for Many Mansions and was looking to add something new and meaningful to his life.
