From a pool of candidates that included every standout CEO in Colorado, the members of ColoradoBiz Magazine’s bio-editorial board first whittled down their CEO of the Year list to 50 viable contenders and then to six finalists that included Mark and Annie Danielson.

When selecting the CEO of the Year, the bio-editorial board relies on established criteria including the CEO’s accomplishments during the calendar year, company performance in the given economic environment, and business challenges the CEO faces, both internal and external to the organization. However, the board also takes into consideration the chief executive’s leadership story and personal commitment to positively affect the community in which the business lives. “We were impressed by Mark and Annie’s dedication to local job creation and the cultural and historic preservation of their town,” Taylor went on to say.
While every chief executive officer in Colorado is eligible for the award, the board pays closer attention to those company heads who are recognized throughout the year by the State of Colorado, ColoradoBiz Magazine, and other organizations. For instance, the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade named Danielson Designs as one of the 50 Colorado Companies to Watch earlier this year. Danielson Designs and the Danielsons themselves have also been nominated for various other local and state business awards in 2009 and have been the recipients of other prestigious industry awards in recent years. “Annie and I are delighted and honored to be named the top Colorado CEOs of the year.
