Most of Georgia suffered damage in February of 2009 due to a large hail storm that moved in from the west. Golf sized hail damaged homes, crops, businesses, and cars.
Tyson Reagan of Total Resource Contracting, Inc. a local roofing company, confirmed that most of the hail storm damage to roofs happened in the cities of McDonough, Chamblee, Tyrone, Conyers, Lilburn, Loganville, Tucker, Fayetteville, Carrolton, Palmetto, and Brookhaven.
Tyson added “Many people have already filed a claim with their insurance company and had their roofs replaced. But many others have not had the time to do it and may never get the chance if they wait any longer.”
The majority of insurance carriers will only allow up to one year from the time of storm to file a claim. Since the last storm passed in February of 2009, this will give home owners only a few more months to file their claim before the deadline. In fact, it maybe too late for some homeowner’s whose policy only allows for 6 months. To get the correct deadline the best thing to do is read your policy.
