Two educated women, one simple vision: to raise funds for nonprofit Roots and Wings International in an effort to increase educational opportunities for Guatemalan youth. As a result of this collaboration, RWI has just partnered with Liftnglow Skincare Clinic, a California-based, performance skin-care company. LiftnGlow Skincare Clinic has initiated a dollar-for-dollar match up to $1000 through December 31, 2009 to raise funds for RWI’s educational programs.

“This holiday season, we are encouraging our family and friends to give a gift that makes a difference in someone’s life: the gift of education,” says Hoa Hong, Founder and Medical Director of Milpitas-based Liftnglow Skincare Clinic. Hoa Hong and Tammy Chiang, RWI’s Marketing Director volunteer, are both classmates in a Spanish 101 class at Mission College and have come together this season to create educational opportunities through the nonprofit RWI. Both Hong and Chiang received their graduate degrees from Santa Clara University. Chiang has experienced the power and opportunities education provides. As a result, Chiang has this aspiration: “If I could change one thing in the world, it would be to give every child an opportunity to receive an education.”

Earlier this year, LiftnGlow Skincare Clinic participated in a charity drive to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank, raising $2900.50. The success of this earlier charity event substantiates the possibilities of a successful and bountiful drive to benefit RWI. Follow this link to make a donation http://www.liftnglow.com/charity.aspx or donate online at http://www.rootsandwingsintl.org/youcanhelp/donate.htm. LiftnGlow Skincare Clinic is also extending an offer of a complimentary $50-dollar-value in-depth skin analysis to all donors.

RWI was created in 2004 by Erik Swanson in an effort to improve the lives of Guatemala’s indigenous population through education, training and technology. Earning approximately $2 per day growing coffee beans, most indigenous Guatemalans live in extreme poverty. RWI recognizes the potential that education brings, and seeks to deliver valued educational tools.
