Richard Ledger was so happy with the solar hot water system installed by SolarUK in 2006 he followed this up by having a 3.5kw photovoltaic system fitted at his Bedfordshire home.
A 8 x 2 array of panels now hangs over the rear of his garage – an inverter installed there feeds the house via an armoured cable running along the ground and into the side wall. It is routed through two cupboards to the consumer board, and a generation meter is fitted to a kitchen wall.
The result was another success story for SolarUK. Commenting on the finished installation, Mr Ledger said “Once more Solar UK have come up trumps…I am delighted with the final outcome – superb. The installation team were excellent and they put up with all my questions and survived my cups of tea! So they deserve the highest praise! I shall continue to recommend Solar UK without hesitation or reservation!”
Despite the adverse economic climate, there continues to be a healthy demand for Sussex-based SolarUK's services. Homeowners facing a future of steeply rising gas and electricity bills are seeing investing in a solar hot water system as an increasingly cost-effective option.
SolarUK’s LaZer2 solar thermal collectors, manufactured at their Sussex factory, were independently tested at a leading European research centre where they outperformed those of their major competitors.
The photovoltaics side of SolarUK's business looks set for a boost from April 2010 when the new feed-in tariffs, providing incentives to small microgenerators in the form of guaranteed rates for selling their electricity to the grid, come into force.
