A Marriage of Convenience plays at the Dylan Thomas Centre on Wednesday, 9 December at 7.30pm.
On the day of Charles and Diana’s royal wedding, a young man attends a Republican picnic on the top of a mountain while his mother and stepmother enjoy a street party in the valley below.
A rites of passage play set against a broader political backdrop, this script-held performance is directed by Gareth Potter, who played the role of the young man in the original production in 1996.
A Marriage of Convenience has won a Herald Angel award at the Edinburgh Festival, the Dublin Dry Gin award for the best play at the Dublin Festival, and Gareth Potter was nominated for best actor in the stage awards for his performance.
Jâms Thomas takes the central role in this production. Thomas, an actor frequently seen on S4C, has just returned from filming Mr Nice with Rhys Ifans in the role of the notorious Howard Marks.
An interview with the author, actor and director can be heard on S4C's Wedi 7 on Tuesday, 8th December.
