The trend of government policy-making at every level is an obstruction to the economy, according to Seattle management consultant Terry Corbell, who cites specific examples.

“Inefficient policies hinder job-creation, the watchdog news media, and economic liberty and political liberty for everybody,” says the business-performance consultant and columnist. “Policies regarding the Freedom of Information Act, taxes, and out-of-control spending are deeply wounding the nation.”

As a proponent of a strong national defense on the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, the profit professional (http://www.bizcoachinfo.com) says the nation’s economic health is being damaged by internal factors, not external threats.

“Ordinarily, I like to be a cheer leader and provide business-coaching tips. I like to talk about faith and hope, and maintaining a strong mental outlook for business success,” writes Mr. Corbell. “But the economic climate is polluted because of inefficient governments are doing more than they should.”

He says the stimulus package was designed to get America rolling forward, “but we’re going backwards.”

His full-service management consulting firm has provided confidential business solutions and best-management practices for Seattle-area companies ranging from high-tech to professional service firms, and for the public sector since 1992.

Mr. Corbell’s expertise is why the New York Times featured him twice. First, columnist Brent Bowers profiled him ("Been There... Done That... Here's How - New York Times"). Mr. Bowers also asked him to take questions from the newspaper’s readers. It resulted in seemingly countless readers seeking Mr. Corbell’s business counsel ("Advice on Taking an Entrepreneurial Leap - New York Times").

He is a member of the Society of Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) and he has written some 500 business-coaching columns as The Biz Coach since 2001.

In addition to the performance-enhancing strategies on his Web site, The Biz Coach is published online at the Money News page of Seattle’s CBS affiliate KIRO TV. KIRO is the “2009 National Edward R. Murrow Award Winner.”
