Each year an assisted living or skilled nursing home serving the impoverished population of Broward County is selected as the recipient of a truck load of gifts. Each resident of the facility is presented with at least one gift bought specifically for them by an ESRN member who picked their name at a monthly meeting and then shopped for that individual to buy him/her what he had requested. Many members very generously select multiple names for shopping. This year’s event will be attended by over a hundred residents who will be presented with a new pair of shoes and then will participate in a holiday party where the ESRN Swinging Singers will entertain the group in costume with a holiday collection of tunes that will get their feet tapping and hands clapping. ESRN is made up of professionals who are involved in some way with the senior and or chronically mentally ill populations. Anyone working with these populations is welcome to attend the monthly meetings which regularly provide informal networking opportunities and feature a special program. The meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 8:00-9:30 AM. For more information, call Sharon Cofar (954) 609-4577. End
