Dec. 7, 2009 - PRLog -- Orlando, Fla. - GoPro (http://www.gopro.com), the world’s leading manufacturer of on-board cameras for motorsports, is gearing up for the 4th annual PRI CKI All-Star Karting Classic with its new HD Motorsports HERO (http://www.goprocamera.com/index.php?area=2&productid=30) on-board HD video camera.

For the second year in a row, PRI CKI All-Star Karting Classic officials and Masters Entertainment Group (MEG) selected GoPro to be the official camera used on the racing karts to document the action for both official review and for a televised broadcast aired on FOX Sports Network.

The HD Motorsports HERO is the world’s best selling HD camera for motorsports. The quick-release mounting design allows for convenient and quick attaching to karts, race and streetcars, motorsports helmets, motorcycles and other vehicles. Designed to perform in even the most intense high vibration motorsports, such as karting, the HD Motorsports HERO retails for an incredible $299 and is available at performance race shops around the country.

The All Star Classic takes place on a tight 6-turn track and participants include top performers from various professional racing series, including NASCAR, NHRA, IRL, ALMS, Grand-Am and ARCA. The race will air on FOX Sports Network in two-30 minute episodes produced by Masters Entertainment Group (MEG). MEG has built on over 100 years of combined experience in the automotive performance and after market industries. Both MEG and GoPro will exhibit at the PRI Trade Show and have successfully worked together on a number of projects in the past.

Butch McCall, Chief Operating Officer for MEG had this to say about GoPro’s HERO line of cameras: “We are extremely pleased with the quality of GoPro’s standard definition cameras used in production for the 2009 season. From what we’ve seen, the HD HERO footage is amazing and we can’t wait to get our hands on these units for our 2010 productions. We’re looking forward to GoPro’s participation in the All Star Classic and think the on-board footage will really enhance our production.”

The HD Motorsports HERO will reveal a truly unique perspective to race fans during Thursday night's karting thunder event. Not only do the cameras capture professional quality 1080p, 960p, and 720p HD resolutions record at 30 frames per second (60 fps in 720p) and 5MP photos, they also boast superior audio engineering. Race fans viewing footage after the fact will enjoy the sound of the motor, not the drone of the wind and road, making it possible to experience the sights and sounds from the excitement firsthand.

“We’re honored that the Entertainment Group (MEG) and PRI CKI All-Star Karting Classic officials have once again chosen GoPro’s on-board cameras to document their terrific celebrity race,” says Nicholas Woodman, GoPro’s founder and CEO. “It’s rewarding to be a part of such a great event and we’re excited to watch the action after the race in HD video on the FOX Sports Network.”

Last year's race filled the grandstands and lined the entire track. This year promises another great event but this time caught in high definition thanks to GoPro’s HD Motorsports HERO.

The race is located in the parking lot adjacent to the Orange County Convention Center on Thursday night, December 10th, immediately following the PRI Happy Hour at 7:00 p.m. The race is free and open to the public.
