New Haven, CT–TwigTek LLC, is pleased to introduce YouRenew.com, the fastest, greenest and fairest way for consumers to renew their old electronics by selling them for reuse or recycling, and get paid for doing it. YouRenew.com was developed by Rich Littlehale and Bob Casey, two Yale University undergraduate students.
Households from coast to coast are full of functional, yet out-of-date or unwanted electronics destined to collect dust or fill landfills. In 2008, YouRenew.com was created so people can “go green and get green” by turning old electronic devices into cash. These devices are remarketed or responsibly recycled to keep the dangerous chemicals within them, such as lead, cadmium and mercury, out of landfills which prevents them from leaking into our environment and drinking water. To date, YouRenew.com has renewed tens of thousands of electronics.
“We’ve always wanted to change the world for the better and decided to develop an easy and convenient way to recycle electronics and make a positive impact on the environment,”
Littlehale was recently honored as a leader in the field when asked by the U.S. Congressional House Subcommittee on Government Management, Organization and Procurement, Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, to speak at a hearing that explored the best practices for life cycle management of IT equipment and electronics.
Since our website went live in March, an increasing number of customers renewed their used electronics through our easy to use website,” said Guy Minetti, CEO, YouRenew.com. “We continue to invest in our marketing efforts and our operating platform to accommodate what we forecast to be an explosive growth in 2010 and beyond."
In three easy steps consumers can responsibly get paid to dispose of electronics by visiting YouRenew.com:
1. Search for your device — Use the search bar on the homepage to find your device (cell phone, digital camera, laptop, DVD, etc.).
2. Renew —Answer a few simple questions about the condition of your device. Click “How Much?” to find out the device’s value and then check-out to receive a free shipping label.
3. Get Paid — Enter your email address, shipping address and choice of payment (check or Paypal) and get paid right away!
YouRenew.com also gives the consumer the choice of how to help the environment. YouRenew.com has partnered with carbonfund.org and americanforests.org and invites the user to choose where a donation should be made.
