What happening?
Typically, this would be a game that looks like an easy mark for the Steelers. But they have lost three in a row for the first time under Mike Tomlin, and one of those losses was to the Chiefs. And the manner of defeat has been the same in almost every instance -- the defense, which is ranked No. 1 in the league, has failed to protect a lead in the fourth quarter. That has happened in four of the five defeats this season.
The Raiders would appear to be the perfect tonic for the Steelers because they have the worst passing offense in the league and rarely make plays downfield. However, the Steelers secondary has been uncharacteristically generous during the three-game losing streak, allowing big pass plays against teams that usually don't stretch the field vertically. Also, the Raiders have one of the worst run defenses in the league, allowing more than 160 yards a game, and that could be a problem against RB Rashard Mendenhall, who is fourth in the AFC in yards per attempt (5.0) and is fifth in the league with runs of 20 yards or longer (7). On top of that, Raiders quarterback Bruce Gradkowski had a passer rating of 1.0 against the Steelers last season when he started for the Browns in the season finale.

What happening?
The Steelers are still in good position to grab one of the wild-card playoff spots in the AFC, especially with their next two games against the Raiders and Browns. But they will probably have to win their remaining five games, or, at the very least, go 4-1 to do. They have a schedule that will allow them to do that, but their inconsistency on offense and the surprising inability of the defense to create turnovers and close out games makes the possibility of running the table highly unlikely. Playing at home, though, will help end the slide.
