Despite the Dolphins' loss to the Bills, they aren't giving up on their playoff aspirations just yet. Here's why: A win against the Patriots would put them one game back in the AFC East with four games left. A win would also secure their fate in the event of a tiebreaker, which means Miami wouldn't need to strive to overtake the Patriots and the Jets -- but merely tie their records. It's a much more probable feat, and it's enough to continue to motivate the Dolphins heading into this week's game. ... Coach Tony Sparano has long talked about the need to see second-year quarterback Chad Henne bounce back from a bad performance before knowing exactly what he's got in his young quarterback. Looks like the time has come. Although Henne wasn't all that bad for three quarters against the Bills on Sunday, his fourth quarter was the worst of his eight-game career as a starter. Henne was 4-of-14 passing for 50 yards while throwing three interceptions -- all while Buffalo scored 24 unanswered points. How Henne rebounds should provide another necessary part of his evaluation. ... For as much as Henne might be trying to bounce back Sunday, the Patriots might have even more of a reason to show their resilience. In the wake of Monday's 38-17 stomping by the Saints, the Pats believe they have their backs against the wall. That might be bad news for Miami. After the Colts defeated the Patriots earlier this season, the Patriots bounced back with a 31-14 victory against the Jets. Expect similar motivation Wednesday. Instead, expect this game to come down to which team has the better football squad. And right now, given the injuries piled up for the Dolphins, it's tough to not give that edge to the Patriots. End
