FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec 04, 2009 -
IOS Health Systems is proud to announce that our web-based Electronic Health Records (EHR) System Medios version 4.5, has been inspected by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT) and is Preliminary ARRA 2011 certified meeting all 27 of 27 applicable standards supporting the proposed 2011-2012 Meaningful Use Objectives for Eligible Providers under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Medios 4.5 was certified on November 23rd, 2009.

Preliminary ARRA certification designates that healthcare information technology has been successfully tested against and can support the proposed Meaningful Use Objectives published by the US Health and Human Services Department (HHS) to qualify providers for funding under ARRA (the Stimulus act). More information is available at http://www.cchit.org/products/2011/arraeligibleprovider/1484.

This important Preliminary ARRA certification is a step toward enabling our providers and prospects to qualify for the $44,000 - $64,000 stimulus incentives by using certified EHR technology that can support the achievement of “meaningful use” as described in ARRA.

To qualify and receive the full share of these funds, physicians must acquire and utilize “certified EHR technology” and demonstrate “meaningful use”. “Meaningful Use” will be required to be demonstrated through “certified EHR technology” that enables the physician to perform a series of measured actions oriented towards patient care. These rules have been initially defined by the ARRA legislation as meeting three general requirements:

•   Utilizing Certified EHR Technology for Electronic Prescribing
•   Utilizing EHR Technology that enables Health Information exchanged electronically
•   Submission of defined Quality Reporting Data on a Schedule to be established by HHS

Physicians that acquire  “certified EHR technology” and meet the other requirements can receive the ARRA and other incentive payments via additional reimbursements from Medicare or Medicaid. Current incentives offered are as follows:

•   Providers utilizing E-Prescribing receive a 2% reimbursement through CMS.
•   Providers participating in Physician Quality Reporting Initiatives can qualify to receive an additional $6,000 – $8,000/year per physician.
•   Beginning 2011, EHR Utilizers can receive up to $44,000 through Medicare over a 5-year period and $64,000 through Medicaid over a 6-year period. Early Adopters will receive the most benefits, since approximately 70% of reimbursements are available during the initial two (2) years.

Medios EHR is the easiest to use and implement EHR system on the market today, adapting to the way physician’s and their practices work.  Since Medios EHR is fully web-based it provides immediate and secure access to critical patient information and physician tools that are not normally accessible via paper; such as drug interactions, clinical decision support, patient education, disease and patient population management. Because Medios is integrated to so many different entities, the physician has a more complete patient record at the point of care allowing for the ability to deliver an accurate assessment and diagnosis. In addition, patients are also given physician controlled access to their medical records and the ability to make payments and schedule appointments via the system’s Patient Portal. Medios EHR helps streamline the medical billing process through various tools including medical necessity and E&M calculators.

Jose Sanchez, IOS’s Chief Information Officer states, “We believe that with all the recent initiatives in the Electronic Health Records arena, completion of the Preliminary ARRA 2011 certification creates significant stability, while also giving our clients the peace of mind in using an EHR that has received this certification. The uniqueness of our technology platform allowed us to quickly adapt to the recent government requirements and gain momentum far ahead of the market. We have some of the best minds in healthcare technology collaborating to continue to provide our clients with the best possible solutions that are well suited for their practices.”

Medios EHR is also fully integrated with our Practice Management system, Medios PMS, providing practices with the tools to have full control of the revenue cycle by automating the claims process, reducing claim rejections, and providing total management of the practice from check-in to payment. In addition, Medios EHR includes features not commonly offered by other vendors such as 24/7 service, video conferencing, text messaging, voice recognition, easy to use interface, QuickNote features, Real-time Practice Dashboards and over 20 specialty specific versions and settings.

In keeping with our high level of commitment to our providers, we believe these proactive measures will enable our providers to meet federal requirements for the $44,000 - $64,000 in incentive payments.

Andrew Carricarte, President and CEO of IOS Health Systems, states, “We believe that achieving the Preliminary ARRA 2011 certification creates a significant advantage for our clients through the assurance of using an EHR system that has been certified by CCHIT against the proposed federal standards. IOS continues with our relentless commitment to providing our care providers with truly innovative technology that empowers them to better manage their practice and provide quality care, while benefiting from government incentives well beyond 2010.”
