PRLog (Press Release) -
Dec 04, 2009 -
This FDA for Hybrid MONA with HTS RF coil came 3 months after the approval of the company’s other product - Hybrid PICA, 0.35T whole body open system.
Hybrid MONA is designed to enable imaging of extremities (shoulder, knee, elbow, hand, foot etc.). The system is ideal for clinicians specializing in orthopedics/
MSK. Use with the Company’s HTS orthopedic RF coil, this 0.2T system can achieve higher image quality by 200% to 500%, a significant improvement over other conventional low-field systems using copper coils. This system also delivers high-speed imaging for high performance applications and costs substantially less.
“This is great news for us, especially at this time when the company is holding our first RSNA exhibition in Chicago to introduce to the world, our paradigm-shifting HTS technology that can improve Signal-Noise-
Ratio 200% to 500% over same tesla systems operating with copper coils. With this, the company is poised to launch into all the markets where US FDA approval is required. This is a strong boost for the company, the result of leadership provided by Prof Q.Y. Ma, our Chairman and CEO and his team of world class MRI technology experts” said Ravindran Govindan, Executive Director cum Head of Sales & Marketing of Time Medical Inc.
ABOUT TIME MEDICAL INC
Time Medical was founded by a group of Scientists trained at Columbia University, Harvard Medical School and the University of Hong Kong. Led by founder Prof. Q.Y. Ma, the R&D team pioneered the use of High-Temperature Superconducting (HTS) materials in MRI and is the first in the world to develop superconducting RF coil that overcomes the imaging limit of conventional copper coils, and make possible an improvement in signal-to-noise ratio, which increases image quality significantly by 200%-500% without a commensurate increase in magnetic field strength.
The team has generated 10 patents, published more than 50 papers in the MRI field and owns core IPs licensed from Columbia University. Time Medical holds close relationship with world leading medical research centers such as University of California at San Diego, Harvard BWH, Merck and some local medical centers in China for its HTS coils testing.
As a world leading fully-integrated MRI company, Time Medical generates revenue by selling HTS coils and components to MRI manufacturers to retrofit into existing MRI systems, as well as through launching its own state-of-the-
art MRI systems. Time Medical continues the pursuit in global scientific, technological and clinical excellence to develop the world’s most sensitive and accurate imaging systems for detecting and fighting major illnesses. Time Medical strives to become a world class MRI company to benefit the world with its brilliant technology innovation.
