By: Habitat for Humanity of Porter County, Indiana When planning your philanthropic gift, you may want to consider taking advantage of the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) tax credit. Your contribution to Habitat for Humanity of Porter County of at least $100 enables you to receive up to 50 percent of the total contribution in tax credits (in addition to the $100 tax deduction you receive for the gift). Your donation will go toward our planned build projects throughout Porter County. According to the Indiana Department of Revenue: • A tax credit and a tax deduction both work to reduce the total amount of tax you pay. • Deductions reduce the amount of your income that is taxable by subtracting the amount of the donation from your income. • Once you have determined the taxable income you received for the year, you may be able to apply tax credits. Tax credits reduce the amount of the tax you must pay. The tax credits are available on a limited first-come, first-served basis. Our goal is to raise $28,000 in donations by December 20. Please help us achieve this target by responding today. (The deadline helps us to get the paperwork in to the IHCHC to get your proper tax credit, though we will accept donations at any time) We welcome and appreciate gifts of all sizes, but to qualify for NAP tax credits, gifts must be $100 or more. To participate in the NAP tax credit program, contact Habitat Treasurer Bob Buhle at BBUHLE@centier.com or at 219-755-4744, or you may mail your contribution, with “NAP” in the memo line of the check, to HABITAT FOR HUMANITY Porter County Indiana, P.O. Box 492, Valparaiso, IN 46384-0492. # # # About Habitat for Humanity of Porter County: Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian ministry dedicated to providing decent, affordable housing in Porter County.
