SAF Studios Breaks Ground on 536 Acre Motion Picture Sound Studio and Entertainment Complex

Dec. 3, 2009 - PRLog -- SAN ANTONIO – SAF Studios, Inc. announced today that it will break ground on a major motion picture sound studio and entertainment complex in San Antonio next Tuesday. The studio will feature nine sound stages ranging from 20,000 to 40,000 square feet, and will create thousands of new jobs for the local area.

“We are excited to break ground on this new project that will help expand the local San Antonio economy with thousands of new construction and entertainment related jobs,” said Al Frakes, president and chief executive officer of SAF Studios, Inc. “It will also pump millions of dollars into the local economy.”

New Mexico recently created a major motion picture film complex and saw the state’s film projects expand from two in 2001 to 31 in 2008, with a fiscal spending impact of $344 million in 2008 alone.  

In fact, SAF Studios has already attracted the interest of producers, directors and talent from Los Angeles to New York and many will be in attendance for the ground breaking next week.

“We have already received strong interest in the studio from the entertainment industry and we have not even broken ground yet,” said Frakes. “The excitement is building and this new studio complex will be a great economic development opportunity for the San Antonio community.”

It will also be an asset to the local educational community as SAF Studios plans to make its new state-of-the-art facilities available for educational purposes.

“We really want to partner with the community and develop local talent that can produce, write, shoot and perform in the movies produced, as well as provide the backstage support,” Frakes said. “Our new sound studio complex will provide thousands of well paying new career opportunities for local San Antonio residents.”

The ground breaking ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 8 at 8350 Cagnon Road in San Antonio near Loop 1604 just south of Highway 90. The location is conveniently less than 20 minutes from downtown San Antonio and is expected to become a local tourist attraction.
