The Samsung B3410 is a follow up to the not-so-successful B3310. The reason for B3310’s fall is the badly designed keypad that is found on the left side of the device. For those who have not seen the device, imagine a small touch screen phone with the numeric keypad all strung together on the left side. This makes operating the device by using the keypad difficult and making the phone nearly impossible to operate with just one hand.
These problems are no longer present in the new Samsung B3410 mobile phone. With the neatly designed layout, touch screen and keyboard input, and an impeccably stylish form, the phone promises to reinvent the identity of a GSM device.
The added functionalities on the B3410 are definitely impressive –starting with the proprietary TouchWiz user interface, the B3410 makes it very easy to use and understand the mobile phone’s functions and capabilities. TouchWiz has been designed to not only deliver a great user experience, but also to ensure that phone operations go smoothly. Being made directly by Samsung, the TouchWiz is set to run without problems on all Samsung devices that have it.
The B3410 Specifications
The first noticeable trait of the B3410 is the touch screen and the slide out full QWERTY keyboard. The old B3310 had a keyboard, but not touch screen. By giving the device a touch screen, Samsung was able to make on-hand portrait oriented phone usage a whole lot easier. The size of the phone is only 102.3 x 52.4 x 15.9 mm and it is still slimmer than its predecessor, but it is also wider due to the touch screen which has been updated in size.
The screen, aside from getting touch capabilities, also got an upgrade in terms of size. From the original 2 inch screen, the B3410 sports a larger 2.6 inch touch screen with resolution and color output similar to the older phone (240 x 320 pixels and 256 thousand colors).
The 2 mega pixel camera remains the same, but at the same time, the software has been updated to be able to take QVGA videos. The encoding is only 13 FPS, the quality is still pretty decent. The phone also supports MP3 and MP4 format files, and has a 960 mAh lithium ion battery that provides up to 670 hours of adjustment.
The device has a phone book capacity of up to 1000 names, and can track up to the last 30 calls that could have been missed, made or received by the user. Memory wise, this phone is reliant on the micro SD card slot since the B3110 only has 30mb of internal storage.
Where to Buy the B3410
The Carphone Warehouse, one of the largest retailers in the UK currently has a semi-exclusive hold on this Samsung device. They are offering it on pay-as-you-go for a cheap price. On T-Mobile and on Orange UK, the B3410 is available free on many plans; in particular, the 24 month deals.
T-Mobile offers the device for a nice 15 Pounds a month tariff but at last it is all consumable (T-Mobile Combi). Orange offers a similar offer under their Dolphin packages.
