Mr Klitschko, who is also involved in the politics of his hometown Kiev in the Ukraine, holds a PhD in sports science and is involved in charitable activities, was pleased to receive a personal invitation from Kofi Annan to become a Climate Ally. He said in support of Climate Justice:
“It’s an important and just cause. Annan, respected by the whole world, writes that “pollution has a cost, and people are expecting help on adapting to the changing climate. It’s a good and accurate definition. Pollution does have a cost.”
Klitschko is the first boxer to become a Climate Ally and he joins sports stars and Climate Allies Clarence Seedorf and Dan Carter. He adds his voice to those of millions of people who are calling for an ambitious, fair and effective agreement in Copenhagen as the climate talks are due to start in 6 days.
