Michael J Citak takes the reigns this January and starts an almost two year marathon to the finish line. He's not entering a dog sled race any time soon, but what the first time screenwriter/
director is doing is taking a love of writing, filmmaking and acting, and running with it. While starting his film production company, JustAHead Productions LLC to film his screenplay, might seem like a huge undertaking, Michael is and will be Directing/producing/
and starring in the film 4 times, before it's all said and done. "I figured if I'm going to use this film as a calling card to get more work in the industry, I might as well go big or go home," Said Michael. "I'll be portraying JT, an alcoholic senior at Reese University, his Grandmother, his Grandfather, and a fitness guru. With many of the times being on the screen at the same time" I guess you could say Eddie Murphy and Robin Williams were a few of his inspirations. But this isn't the first time Michael has acted against himself. Through the use of prosthetics, and liquid latex, which he learned how to apply from working as the Hunchback at this years Haunted Graveyard in Lake Compounce, Michael will once again visit WPAA Studios in Wallingford to utilize their green screen. "The public access studio in Wallingford has been a blessing, allowing me the opportunity to take their cameras, their monitors, microphones, and produce content, free of charge, even teaching me how to edit footage on their TV software." With sometimes as little time as taking a course on how to use the equipment, a fledging Speilberg can save hundreds to thousands of dollars, by using Public Access resources. "That's what it's there for, to save citizens the money from buying equipment, and to give us an outlet for where to create original programming."
When asked if he was nervous about playing multiple characters in a film of this magnitude, Michael said, "To act against a green screen when you have nothing to draw from except your imagination, it's like the ultimate acting exercise." Having used the green screen before for his variety show 'Creation', which is still being aired on WPAA TV Channel 18 in Wallingford, even though Michael has stopped producing new content, Michael is ready for the challenges he’ll face taking his small screen experience and lampooning it to his feature film. "I'm confident that with my production crew, and a little movie magic, we'll be able to contend with the big boys." Originally wanting to write a horror movie because he was unhappy with the lackluster titles of '06, Michael decided early on that writing just another horror movie wasn't going to cut it. "I wanted to stand out, make a film with thought, humor, and suspense. A film that you'd want to watch again, and buy the DVD." The film is entitled 'Love's A Killer', and like all good things, it's modeled after true life. "Every day, somebody on a social networking site adds a stranger, and they don't know if that stranger could be a serial killer, or just somebody wanting to be friends. While my screenplay is fiction, loosely based on true events, it hits home the message of being cautious with whom you add as a friend, because that friend could eventually kill you," Said Michael. When students at Reese University add a black faceless robed man to their friends list on RUsocial.net, it's no wonder that he turns out to be a mysterious serial killer. But when the bodies start to pile up, could it be that there is more than one killer? If you don't want to wait until October 2011, when the film premieres at Holiday Cinema 10 in Wallingford, come to the audition, and see if you have what it takes to be in a movie.
Casting for principal roles and extras will take place on Jan6th from5pm-9pm at WPAA Studios in Wallingford, CT. Persons with acting experience, please bring a headshot and resume. Sides will be provided. Persons with little to no acting experience are encouraged to apply and may come to the audition with a recent photo. JustAHead Productions LLC, requests that everybody join www.RUSocial.net, as this is where Michael, and the rest of the crew will be chatting, posting production pictures, and releasing the names of the lucky few who get chosen to die! (Just kidding).
