In this unique service and in this day of modern technology, our Pastor , Dr. Jimmie F. Hubbard , will place each member’s name on a disk that will be placed behind the cornerstone for eternity.
In October 1982, over 25 years ago, Dr. Jimmie Hubbard and his wife Rev. Jerri Hubbard, accepted the position of Pastor of the First Baptist Church (later renamed Inner City Baptist Church) in downtown San Diego, California. Instrumental for many years in bringing the homeless and destitute of the inner city area to Christ, Dr. Hubbard envisioned his ministry to be a mainstay in downtown San Diego. Little did he know that zoning ordinances were being changed in the downtown area and the final outcome was that Inner City Baptist Church would be the only church allowed in San Diego’s downtown area. Today, the church is known as the East Village Community Church, which services the San Diego East Village community and surrounding areas. Dr. Hubbard’s legacy and contributions to the City of San Diego are well known.
East Village Community Church looks forward to moving into its new sanctuary on December 20, 2009.
