Finsoul: Biofuel Emits 62% Less Greenhouse Gas Than Conventional Fuels.

Latest Canadian report shows that biofuels are a better option than previously thought.

Dec. 2, 2009 - PRLog -- According to a recent report prepared for the Canadian biofuel industry, FinSoul understands that the perception of biofuels using more energy to produce than what they can deliver, has in the Canadian industry been shown to be incorrect.

With all stages taken into consideration, from the planting of crop right through to the burning of the fuel, the report indicated that Canadian ethanol emitted 62% less greenhouse gasses than conventional fuels.

“We can clearly demonstrate that we are producing a fuel that reduces greenhouse gases, the notion (of) a negative environmental result is just garbage," FinSoul believes the president of the Canadian Fuels Association is quoted as saying.

To date there have been numerous reports including a 2005 report by Cornell University and Berkeley University in California showing that producing biofuel from corn and other crops uses much more energy that what the end product generates.

FinSoul has been told of 2 major subsidies granted by the Canadian government, to Husky Energy Inc. and Suncor Energy Inc for the production of biofuels, and the Renewable Fuels Association intends asking government early in 2010 to expand fuel-blending mandates and production incentives.

The latest report by Cheminfo Services was based on the industries reported production of 741 million liters of all biofuels over the year between April 2008 and March 2009.
