Dec. 2, 2009 - PRLog -- A LIVERPOOL Healthcare business is helping local companies slash the cost of recurrent absenteeism – thanks to a revolutionary new wellbeing service.
Joints and Points, with clinics in Bebington, Birkenhead, Liverpool and Ellesmere Port, has set up its new Teamwork Service to help companies reduce the number of sick days taken by getting absent employees back to work as quickly as possible.
The service is completely employer-focused, with priority placed on the efficiency and profitability of the company.
The conditions tackled are those that most commonly affect the workforce, such as musculoskeletal problems – back pain and Repetitive Strain Injury - and stress or depression.
Adrian Mercer, Joints and Points managing director, said long term absences have been mismanaged by companies who do not understand the true cost of absenteeism.
He said: “Long term absenteeism costs companies an absolute fortune through lost business, lost fees and sick pay.
“But despite these financial implications, absenteeism is often poorly managed by companies.
“Basic sickness policies currently consist of maintaining contact with the employee every two weeks. Nothing is done to proactively get that person quickly back into work.
“There has never been a better time to look at costs, productivity and resources and put in place policies to ensure your workforce is fit for work.
“The money spent on prevention is a small investment compared to the cost of constant and long term staff absenteeism.”
The Joints and Points Teamwork Service has access to Chartered Physiotherapists and Psychologists, Occupational Health Nurses and a Physician and includes a full assessment of each employee’s health, lifestyle and working environment.
Strategies are then put in place to minimise the risk of an employee needing to take time off.
If an employee does go off sick, Joints and Points offer a fast response service to treat those injuries and illnesses as quickly as possible.
Adrian added: “We provide employers with clear feedback on cause of absence, outcome of treatment and any changes in working policy that may assist in future prevention.
“Employers only have to spend money when they use the service so costs are low. These are insignificant compared to what they pay for someone not to come to work.”
Joints and Points are working with many organisations across a range of sectors, including: Wirral Borough Council, BPI Plastics, Kohler Daryl and CML Group Ltd.
Simon Albert, PC Support Group managing director, is a Teamwork client.
He said: “Joints and Points helped me recover from for a knee problem.
“I was so impressed with the standard of service and client care I received that I had no hesitation in signing the PC Support Group up to their Teamwork Service.”
