Longtime music veteran and VP of Island Def Jam, Jerry Clark, will celebrate the one year anniversary of his foundation, The Jerry Clark Foundation (JCF), on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Joia Restaurant and Lounge, 1100 Crescent Ave., Atlanta, GA 30309 from 7p.m. to 10 p.m. The event will commemorate his first year accomplishments by spotlighting individuals who have excelled in academics, athletics, and humanitarian work. The individuals being honored this year are Jacob Brumfield, JCF 2009 High school Student of the Year and Dr. Maurice Jove, JCF 2009 Humanitarian of the Year.
“I am extremely excited about the tremendous success that the Jerry Clark Foundation has enjoyed over the past year,” said Jerry Clark, founder and executive director. “Our growth and achievements are testament to not only our dedicated team, but also our business partners and clients who have supported us along the way.”
Hosted by Frank Ski of the People’s Station V-103, Ryan Glover, Executive Consultant, Program Planning Peachtree TV, and Tom “Flash” Gordon, Member of the 2008 World Champion Philadelphia Phillies, the anniversary celebration will draw a multitude of guests from Atlanta’s business, entertainment, political and athletic communities. Guests will enjoy a different array of music, delicious hors d'oeuvres provided by Joia, and complimentary cocktail martinis provided by the event’s sponsor Grey Goose Vodka.
The JCF was founded with the intent to give back to the community and create individuals that will be assets to society via academics and athletics. The organization stresses high academic achievement to help youth avoid potential pitfalls such as dropping out of school and substance / alcohol abuse. In addition, the foundation believes athleticism can create a team mentality where students can develop a culture of openness without taking things personally which is critical to success. Among the accomplishment of successfully running his foundation, Clark is responsible for helping national and local key music industry artists such as Jermaine Dupri, Young Jeezy, Lloyd, Outkast, T.I. and various others break into the music scene.
