After fielding numerous fiction writers' questions about lawyers, courtroom procedures, and the gladiator arena of a trial, Shaun Kaufman and Colleen Collins decided to teach "Trials 101" to help writers swim with their fictional sharks.
"Trials 101" provides an introduction to trials (U.S. legal system), outlining the key players in the courtroom, the history of trials, a few reasons why trials happen (as well as some wrong reasons trials happen, which provide great story conflict), and examples of outstanding trials in books and movies.
The online course is one week (next class is December 14-21, 2009), which includes two classes with questions answered by email in-between. To read more about the course and to register, go to http://www.writingprivateinvestigators.com
