Lookout Software LLC. has just released OfficeCalendar Version 6.5 and OfficeCalendar Mobile for BlackBerry. Version 6.5 and the new OfficeCalendar Mobile for BlackBerry App both represent a major update to world’s most widely used alternative to Exchange Server for sharing Outlook calendars and more, OfficeCalendar.
The most significant features to the OfficeCalendar 6.5 update include: wireless over-the-air synchronization of contact, calendar and task folders between Microsoft Outlook and BlackBerry smartphone devices; support for Apple Macintosh computing platforms with OfficeCalendar Online; and full private appointment functionality in OfficeCalendar Online.
Wireless Over-the-Air BlackBerry Synchronization
OfficeCalendar Online is a web service offered by Lookout Software for OfficeCalendar users. The OfficeCalendar Online web service gives OfficeCalendar users the ability to access and modify their Outlook calendar, contact and task information (both personal and shared) via a web browser from anywhere in the world.
Now, built into OfficeCalendar Online is a web service that allows BlackBerry devices to sync calendar, contact and task information populated from Microsoft Outlook. In order to connect and sync with the OfficeCalendar Online web service each BlackBerry device must have the OfficeCalendar Mobile for BlackBerry application installed. The OfficeCalendar Mobile for BlackBerry app requires a one-time, per device, license purchase of $69.95, but is currently offered at a special introductory price of $49.95. Once the OfficeCalendar Mobile for BlackBerry app is licensed for a given device, the end user only needs an active OfficeCalendar Online Account ($27 per year, per user) in order to wirelessly sync their Outlook installation with their BlackBerry device.
Support for Apple Macintosh computing platforms with OfficeCalendar Online
Significant modifications to the OfficeCalendar Online interface have been made so that Apple Macintosh users can now share calendar, contact and task information with Microsoft Outlook users. Apple Macintosh users can also use OfficeCalendar group calendars for Group Scheduling with OfficeCalendar Online now as well.
OfficeCalendar Online requires the Mozilla Firefox web browser when used by Apple Macintosh users. See the OfficeCalendar website for further details.
Private Appointments Online
Other new features have been added into OfficeCalendar Online such as full support for private appointments. This includes the ability for users to create private appointments from OfficeCalendar Online and the ability to see private appointments created from Microsoft Outlook in the OfficeCalendar Online interface.
The newest version of OfficeCalendar Online also includes private tasks and private contacts with much of the same functionality highlighted with private appointments.
