In southwest France, east of Bordeaux, is the Dordogne river valley. This is a beautiful area of France, unknown to many tourists who come to France to savor Paris, or head to the sun and glitter of the Cote d'Azur, or French Riviera. But to many of the French themselves, this is a favorite part of their own country.
This is a land of lovely stone houses and farmhouses, and fabulous chateaux. The area has a beauty about it a softness, a glow, that stretches back millenia into history and even to prehistory. This is the country of the origin of Mankind. To the north of the river are the famous Lascaux caves, with beautiful cave paintings, painted by our ancestors 17,000 years ago.
Film producer Jim Hilgendorf and his wife Elizabeth came to this area several years ago, and were struck with its beauty. Jim made a film on the area - "Bordeaux & The Dordogne: A Tribute", and the couple have returned to the Dordogne several times since.
Jim and Elizabeth have their own real estate agency in Eugene, Oregon, called The Matchmakers, and after deciding to focus also on properties in France, which they love so much, the Dordogne area is one of the areas they decided to concentrate on in helping clients purchase property there. They have developed a relationship with an excellent agency in the area that they feel very confident about referring clients to who are interested in purchasing a home there.
For people outside of France, who are interested in buying a home there, finding a excellent real estate agency in France to work with is a good idea; because searching for and buying a home in France is quite different from other countries, like the United States. Jim and Elizabeth - The Matchmakers - can put you in touch with a good agency to help you begin the process of finding and buying your dream home in France.
You can view some sample properties, and watch a short video of the Dordogne area that Jim put together on their website at http://www.thematchmakers.org.
