Onsite Wastewater Technology Licensed by HydroLogex™
Earlier this month, HydroLogex LLC completed the formation of a new company to commercially design and manufacture onsite wastewater treatment systems based on the patented EnviroFilter™
technology invented by Kevin Chaffee, P.E., of Batesville, Indiana.
The EnviroFilter™
Package Recirculating Media Filter (PRMF) is an Attached Growth Bioreactor that achieves Advanced Secondary Performance Standards for effluent. Engineered for decentralized wastewater treatment, the technology is scalable from 600 gallons/day residential systems to 60,000 gallons/day engineered systems for residential communities, commercial and municipal sites.

“I invented the EnviroFilter™
to address real environmental problems that did not have ready, cost-effective solutions”, says Mr. Chaffee. “Small communities with failed septic systems could simply not afford traditional solutions due to the high cost of conventional system operation and maintenance (O&M). I understood that if I could “package” an engineered solution that had lower O&M costs, these communities could afford to solve their wastewater problems. The key to the system’s low operational cost is the attached growth process that utilizes the tremendous surface area created by numerous textile media chips (U.S. Patent issued) within the EnviroFilter™
PRMF.
Further, Chaffee points out that “the scalable design of the EnviroFilter™
technology gives engineers a pre-fabricated solution for projects on challenging sites without access to centralized sewer collection”.
