GREENIE TOTS: A SIMPLE SOLUTION TO THE
“EATING HEALTHY VS. EATING TASTY” DEBATE BETWEEN PARENTS AND THEIR CHILDREN
Come meal time, several questions run through a parent’s mind: “Am I serving my child a nutritious meal? Is it simple to make? Is it affordable?” The only question in a child’s mind is, “Does it taste good?” Greenie Tots, a new line of all-natural, meatless, pre-packaged meals, provides an easy answer to all of these questions.
Established in April 2008 by Jamie and Jilea Hemmings, Greenie Tots was created to provide a simple solution for busy parents who want to be able to serve their children healthy meals that they will actually eat and enjoy. All of the ingredients used to create the meals are all-natural, 100% meatless, contain no hormones, pesticides, or high fructose corn syrup.
“As parents, the last thing we want is for children to associate ‘healthy’ with ‘yucky.’ Therefore, we put a lot of care into crafting entrees that will appeal to their developing palates, without sacrificing the nutritional benefits of an all-natural, meatless diet,” said Jamie and Jilea Hemmings.
Greenie Tots meals are delivered frozen to the customer’s door in environmentally friendly, BPA-free packaging of which when returned with a shipping form, will yield customers a discount of fifteen percent on their next order, adding yet another good reason to recycle. All meals have instructions with a boil, toaster, or microwave option, which ensures that meals will go from the freezer to the dinner table in under five minutes.
Greenie Tots offers sixteen varieties of all-natural infant, toddler, and kids meals. Your infant will love the wholesome purees of organic fruits and vegetables that are a perfect introduction into healthy eating. As your infants’ palates change, they are introduced to foods with a bit more complexity and texture, such as pear and apple purees with oat bran cereal and sweet potato and white bean purees. The toddler entrees consist of mouth-watering favorites like mac and cheese with peas, and “chicken” nuggets with sweet potato. The kid entrees include larger portion sizes of meals that children had enjoyed as toddlers.
Fort Lauderdale based nutritionist, Lori Kupferman MS, LDN, RD, owner of May I Health You, LLC, highly recommends Greenie Tots foods to parents for their children. She states, “I believe that whenever possible parents should feed their children a diet consisting of all-natural foods. Greenie Tots meets these recommendations and children will reap the benefits of consuming these healthy and tasty foods.”
As parents, Jamie and Jilea noticed a huge void in the children’s food market. They wanted to serve their sons, Jayden and Jaxon, food that was minimally processed, used only all-natural ingredients, but yet was simple, affordable, and most importantly, appealing to children. Thus, the idea for Greenie Tots was born. With all the buzz surrounding the importance of feeding children minimally processed and healthy meals, they found it surprising that there weren’t more options available in the grocery store. What they did find was either expensive, complicated and time consuming to make, or not kid-palate friendly, according to their sons.
Eating “green” protects the future health of our children and the health of our planet. Until now, the word “all-natural”
