All students age 13 years and older are eligible to raise money for college. The program allows students to register at the website, www.myheavenssweets.com, receive an ID number and for every box of fudge candy purchased using the students ID number the company will deposit 40% of the purchase price into a college fund account that can only be used to pay for college for the student. Ms. Toya Roberts founded the business in 2009 initially to help her raise money for college; she expanded the idea to other students based on listening to how many other students are struggling to see how they too will pay for college.
"It is a truism that education is no longer a luxury. Education in this day and age is a necessity."; President Lyndon B. Johnson. The company Heavens Sweets has also created a movement called SWAG 10 which stands for Students With A Goal 10,000 that represents the 10,000 students that will have the opportunity to pay for college by August 2010. Ms. Roberts is calling on groups and organizations like churches and other groups with student members to encourage them to register to be a part of SWAG 10. She is also asking these organizations, businesses, political officials and the general public to purchase the candy to support students that would like to go to college.
