Sunny Acres Sports Systems announces today that it has begun construction on a new synthetic turf sports field at Walker Mill Park in Prince Georges County Maryland.
The Park comprises over 470 acres of land, a portion of which has been developed for recreational uses and serves the residents of District Heights a suburb of Washington D.C. The site includes 100-space lighted parking area, a lighted baseball field, two lighted softball fields, a lighted soccer/football field, two tennis courts, two basketball courts, play equipment, a picnic area, an open shelter, a comfort station, and a trail. “We are excited to have this opportunity to serve the residents of Prince Georges County by constructing a synthetic turf field that is safe, accessible, and can be played on 24/7.”
The Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission or MNCPPC’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) is the primary mechanism for planning and budgeting capital projects such as new or renovated parks. The CIP is a six-year program, with the first year being the Capital Budget year and the outer five years comprising the planned capital expenditures for the following years.
